Alphabet Art

Sorry for the lack of blogging...I am not very good at this yet.

Last weekend we were in North Carolina for Brett's Dads wedding!  It was such a beautiful wedding and we had a blast!  After spending the week working and trying to recover from our whirlwind of a trip, I think we have finally caught up on sleep and am ready to tackle another week of work!

This past Christmas, my parents got Brett and I an alphabet art with our last name.  I absolutely LOVE it and wanted to get for for Dwayne and Laura's wedding present!  Pinterest has awakened my inner creativity and I decided to tackle the art piece by myself.  With just my point and shoot camera, I was able to come up with this!

I was very happy with how it turned out!  Now, can you guess where all the letters came from!?

Happy Sunday! :)

Morning Routine

Many people's morning routines consist of coffee and children.....mine consists of Cheerios and my dog!  Every morning at about 6:10, Brett gets out of bed and begins getting ready for work.  5 minutes later, Stoops is up in his spot.....head on his pillow and fast asleep.  I truly believe that she lies in her bed waiting to hear Brett's feet hit the floor, and then as soon as she is in the bathroom and the coast is clear she makes her move for his spot.  From about 6:15 until 7 or so, Stoops and I sleep together.  7am is time for us to get up and ready tackle the day.  First stop is out the back door so Stoops can take care of business.  This can take anywhere from 1-10 minutes.  On days when the weather is either cold or rainy, she is in and out the door in less than a minute.  However, lately she has decided to take her sweet time finding the right spot and making sure that no other animals have invaded her home since the previous night.  She sniffs every piece of grass, shrub and flower before making her way back in the house.  From there we grab a cup of food, fill her dish and I get in the shower.  After I get out of the shower, Stoops is back in Brett's spot sleeping and her food dish is still full.  Next come my Cheerios.....every morning I have a bowl of Cheerios and Stoops sits at my feet waiting until I am finished because she knows she gets the milk left in my bowl.  Once she has successfully licked every last drop of milk in the bowl she proceeds to her bowl to eat her breakfast.  As I continue to get ready, Stoops climbs back on the bed to catch another quick nap before I kick her off to make the bed.   The bed gets made, pillows back where they belong and everything looks tidy.  I turn my back to brush my teeth or finish getting ready, and Stoops is back on the bed sleeping!  Finally, I am ready, sitting on the ottoman putting my shoes on and Stoops knows I am leaving for work and she is going in her crate.  Before I am finished putting my shoes on and grabbing my things, she is in the laundry room, lying peacefully in her crate waiting for me to close the door.

I love her and love our morning routine!  It makes for an enjoyable morning!!

13.1

For the past year, Brett and I have been on and off training for a half marathon.  We have made calendars with our daily workouts on them....usually we do really good for the first month or so but then once we miss one day it seems a lot easier to miss another day, and another day and before we know it we haven't ran for 5 days!!  It's so frustrating.  We began following a plan to have us ready for an October 23rd half, but the problem was we were training in the middle of the hottest summer in Texas history...not a good idea!  We have ended up running a lot of our runs either split between a treadmill and outside, or solely on the treadmill.  Let me tell you, training on a treadmill is a lot different then running outside.  So once again, doesn't look like we will be running the half next month!!

I think our biggest problem is that we have never actually registered for a half and therefore we haven't been 100% committed.  Just this weekend we decided that we are going to push our half back until Dec. and run the White Rocks Half Marathon in Dallas.  I have heard that it is a good course and hopefully the weather will start cooling down to the point where we can actually enjoy running outside again!!!  I will keep you updated on whether or not we actually register!!

Basically, this rant is about how I am a frustrated and scared runner who just needs to take the plunge and sign up for my first half marathon!

Pinterest

Hi my name is Rachel, and I am addicted to Pinterest!!!  According to my husband, I have an addiction. But a very fun addiction!  If you have not discovered pinterest, I urge you to check it out...you wont regret it!  Basically it is a big pin board where you can pin all sorts of fun ideas for crafts, home decor, recipes, and so much more!

I have a whole bunch of craft ideas I am waiting to find the time to tackle and recipes I am dying to make but unfortunately, I have been too busy to actually put any of these ideas into action!  (probably because I have been spending way too much time on pinterest!)  It is my goal to not be the girl with several pin boards full of awesome ideas that I never do anything with.  One of my new years resolutions was to try a new recipe every week, and although that has definitely tapered off I enjoy new recipes and think I am going to re-institute the new recipe a week goal.

Hopefully, I will have more time for blogging now and maybe, just maybe some in the near future will include my pinterest endeavors!  Hope you all had a great Labor day weekend!!!

If only....

Browsing online the other day I came across the most adorable little house...one that I definitely can see has potential to be very cute.  Of course this house needs a little TLC, but I was up for the task. After eagerly researching the house and falling even more in love with it, I broke the news to Brett.  Like myself, he loves the unique houses and not cookie cutter houses that are a dime a dozen (especially in Burleson, TX...ALL the houses look the same!!)  Anyways, Sunday after church I was able to convince Brett to take me by the house....bad decision.  I liked it even more...I could tell by peering through the windows that the floors would need polished (hardwood throughout the whole house) and all the walls would need painted...but thats ok because I was totally envisioning what colors would go on what walls!

Well, out of curiousty I e-mailed the realtor to see if we could maybe see the house her e-mail back wasn't what I was hoping for....my now dream house looked like it would to turn into a disaster dream house.....before even being able to move in it would need a lot of repairs....windows, foundation, patio and stairs.  Personally, I don't think it is a good idea to buy a house that has foundation issues :(  Oh, and did I mention that there is no AC unit and we live in Texas....currently it is 111 degrees outside!  111 + no AC = BAD!!!!

Not that we were even going to buy the house RIGHT now, I am still depressed....however, my quest for a cute house with character that I can pour some love into and create into a home continues.

Now, here it is 1900 Lipscomb.  Some handy-man can get this house and fix it up....but neither Brett or I are handy when it comes to fixing foundation and stairs so its not the home for us.

The Joys of Aunt-hood

I know it has been a while since my last post but things have been crazy busy with the Sayres.  Finally getting some time to breath so hopefully I will have some things to talk about in the near future.  However, one of the funniest things that happens lately occurs when I skype with my adorable 3- year old niece.  When we skype we usually end up talking for a good 45min to an hour.  Somehow we always have lots to talk about and she will either end up wanting to watch a movie together where she turns the computer so I can see the tv screen, coloring pictures together or her reading books to me.  Like I said, she is beyond adorable!!!  However, the funniest is when she has to use the restroom while we are talking....she doesn't just leave the computer sitting on the table and run and use the restroom...No, she brings the computer into the potty room so her TeeTee (that's Me!)  can watch her use the big girl potty!!!  And the other day, I had to be in the bathroom while she had her morning bath.  Needless to say, we love each other.  I get to go to Canada and visit both her and her adorable little brother in 31 days and I couldn't be more excited!!! :)

Road Trips and Weddings...

July 1st Brett and I took off on a cross-country road trip...ok, well not exactly cross-country but it definitely felt like it.  Our first destination was Springfield, Mo.  What was estimated to be an 8 hour drive turned into a 10 hour drive due to construction, construction and more construction!!!  We got to Springfield and checked into our hotel around mid-night and then crashed!  Brett was up early the next morning to meet the groom (a former college roommate) and fellow groomsmen for some golf and male bonding.  I took this opportunity to sleep in...the first time I had slept in in a LONG time....and I had a king size bed to myself.  It was awesome!  In order to even out my lazy morning, I headed down to the fitness center for a nice run.  Saturday night was the rehearsal dinner and then Brett went out with the boys for some more male bonding. The wedding was Sunday and it was beautiful.  It was great to meet Kyle's bride, hopefully we will be able to hang out as married couples in the near future!  They are now in Conway, Ak which isn't too far from us!  Yaaay!  We had a fun night of dancing and hanging out with college friends....all in all a great night!

 Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Williamson

With wedding #1 behind us we had a couple days to hang out just the two of us!  I was so excited to spend the week with my husband!  We have been so busy with work lately that I feel like we haven't had much time to just hang out, needless to say we were excited or a week of relaxation!

Monday was July 4th and we decided to go on a hunt for some hiking trails...lately Brett is all about being outside...I love to spend the day hiking and being outdoors but when it comes time for sleep I am all about a nice comfy bed so I am glad I was able to convince Brett to nix the camping idea for this trip!  :)  We spent some time hiking as well as hiking through a little creek.  Missouri is a lot prettier than I thought it was!    Kind of sad that July 4th passed and we didn't get to see any fireworks but Springfield did there fireworks on Saturday night and we were busy with the wedding rehearsal....there is always next year though!

Well, our time in Springfield had come to a close and we were on our way to Chicago for wedding #2!  Springfield to Chicago was about another 8 hours but we were so excited to get to the city that the trip didn't seem too long.  We have many memories of spending time in the city from when we were in college and hadn't been back for 2 years! We were lucky enough to be able to meet up with Brett's dad and new fiance in Chicago and spend the next couple days with them!  We visited a couple of our favorite restaurants and just enjoyed life in the city!  One of the highlights of our time downtown was the speedboat trip in lake Michigan!

Seadog Speedboat ride on Navy Pier!

Thursday and Friday were spent helping my dear friend Anna prepare for her wedding!  Everything from making our bouquets, hanging lights and making seating charts.  I was so happy to be a part of her special day and loved being able to spend time with her.  It had been over a year since I had seen her...hopefully it isn't that long until we reunite as two married couples!!  Anna was the most beautiful bride and the wedding was wonderful...everything detail for the ceremony and the reception were perfect and beautiful!  After we danced the night away it was time to say our good-byes and start the loooooong trip back to Ft. Worth!

 Yaaay for married friends!! :)

I love him! :)

We ended up leaving north Chicago around11:15pm Saturday and were home sweet home at 5:15pm Sunday!  18 hours exactly....looking back I am still not sure how we made it home safely because we were both beyond exhausted but we did and the trip was definitely well worth it!!!  However, I think we have made the decisions that planes were invented for a reason and from this point forward we will fly instead of drive :)

First Blog EVER

This is my first post...I have thought about starting a blog in the past but never thought I would have anything to talk about.  I finally decided to just jump feet first into the blogging world and see where I end up.  Kylee Dawson, a dear college friend has been my inspiration when it comes to the blogging world...I often read here posts that leave me with something to think about or just a good laugh.  This will be a place where I can write what is on my mind as well as what Brett and I are up to.  As we enter into our second year of marriage, we have high hopes for the future and I hope to share our experiences...both good and bad here with my readers!

Until next time! :)
