Road Trips and Weddings...

July 1st Brett and I took off on a cross-country road trip...ok, well not exactly cross-country but it definitely felt like it.  Our first destination was Springfield, Mo.  What was estimated to be an 8 hour drive turned into a 10 hour drive due to construction, construction and more construction!!!  We got to Springfield and checked into our hotel around mid-night and then crashed!  Brett was up early the next morning to meet the groom (a former college roommate) and fellow groomsmen for some golf and male bonding.  I took this opportunity to sleep in...the first time I had slept in in a LONG time....and I had a king size bed to myself.  It was awesome!  In order to even out my lazy morning, I headed down to the fitness center for a nice run.  Saturday night was the rehearsal dinner and then Brett went out with the boys for some more male bonding. The wedding was Sunday and it was beautiful.  It was great to meet Kyle's bride, hopefully we will be able to hang out as married couples in the near future!  They are now in Conway, Ak which isn't too far from us!  Yaaay!  We had a fun night of dancing and hanging out with college friends....all in all a great night!

With wedding #1 behind us we had a couple days to hang out just the two of us!  I was so excited to spend the week with my husband!  We have been so busy with work lately that I feel like we haven't had much time to just hang out, needless to say we were excited or a week of relaxation!

Monday was July 4th and we decided to go on a hunt for some hiking trails...lately Brett is all about being outside...I love to spend the day hiking and being outdoors but when it comes time for sleep I am all about a nice comfy bed so I am glad I was able to convince Brett to nix the camping idea for this trip!  :)  We spent some time hiking as well as hiking through a little creek.  Missouri is a lot prettier than I thought it was!    Kind of sad that July 4th passed and we didn't get to see any fireworks but Springfield did there fireworks on Saturday night and we were busy with the wedding rehearsal....there is always next year though!

Well, our time in Springfield had come to a close and we were on our way to Chicago for wedding #2!  Springfield to Chicago was about another 8 hours but we were so excited to get to the city that the trip didn't seem too long.  We have many memories of spending time in the city from when we were in college and hadn't been back for 2 years! We were lucky enough to be able to meet up with Brett's dad and new fiance in Chicago and spend the next couple days with them!  We visited a couple of our favorite restaurants and just enjoyed life in the city!  One of the highlights of our time downtown was the speedboat trip in lake Michigan!

Seadog Speedboat ride on Navy Pier!

Thursday and Friday were spent helping my dear friend Anna prepare for her wedding!  Everything from making our bouquets, hanging lights and making seating charts.  I was so happy to be a part of her special day and loved being able to spend time with her.  It had been over a year since I had seen her...hopefully it isn't that long until we reunite as two married couples!!  Anna was the most beautiful bride and the wedding was wonderful...everything detail for the ceremony and the reception were perfect and beautiful!  After we danced the night away it was time to say our good-byes and start the loooooong trip back to Ft. Worth!

 Yaaay for married friends!! :)

I love him! :)

We ended up leaving north Chicago around11:15pm Saturday and were home sweet home at 5:15pm Sunday!  18 hours exactly....looking back I am still not sure how we made it home safely because we were both beyond exhausted but we did and the trip was definitely well worth it!!!  However, I think we have made the decisions that planes were invented for a reason and from this point forward we will fly instead of drive :)
